“Dallas: Portrait of a City” is a beautiful, must-have book that was published this month by Carolyn Brown, one of Texas’ most talented photographers. The book contains hundreds of stunning images of Dallas landmarks.
Individuals, including Margaret McDermott, Roger Staubach and Gerald Turner, introduce sections with commentary on Architecture, Parks, Arts, Sports, Universities, Medicine, and more. I was honored to be asked to provide the commentary for the Medicine section, which includes excellent views of Children’s Medical Center, Parkland Memorial Hospital, and Baylor, Presbyterian, and Methodist hospitals.
Also included are photos of UT Southwestern Medical Center‘s award-winning North Campus complex of clinical, education, and research buildings, which was the nation’s largest construction project of its type between 1990 and 2010.
“Dallas: Portrait of a City” provides comprehensive, evocative photographs of the most important sites in our community, as well as a number of “off-the-beaten-path” attractions. It is destined to become a collector’s item.
